Pine tar has been used topically for various skin conditions for over 2000 years! It’s “been shown to be antipruritic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal. These properties make pine tar suitable for the topical treatment of eczema, psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis and other dry, itchy, flaky or inflamed skin conditions.” Barnes et al (2017) To ma favorite formula of tallow, coconut oil and olive oil I added pure Swedish 100% pine tar, a pinch of activated charcoal and Pine, Peppermint and Frankincense essential oils.
